The artist created a classical texture on the canvas in ancient, simple colors, and produced this artwork.
The response to this artwork has been varied. People either really love it, or are repulsed by it.
The original was donated to an auction to benefit the children of Chernobyl, some of whom I met in the summer of 1999. The children suffer debilitating birth defects from the radiation created by the explosion of the nuclear power plant in the USSR which polluted much of Europe.
