Kusku ... The steady  gaze of the wolf is part of the spirit and intensity unique to the magnificent animal.

The artist had a close up encounter with a timber wolf in the Rocky Mts. in 1971. The wolf and the artist gazed at each other, then the artist watched as the wolf hunted mice and fish. The wolf never made a threatening advance towards the artist. Kathryn stood still in wonder until her legs grew numb with cold, then she hiked back to town (Crested Butte). The artist promotes wildlife conservation and respect and preservation of nature, including large animals. Wolves are a vital part of the wilderness, and so beautiful.
